Iolanthe’s Kids: Emily

Emily was diagnosed with Alveolar Rhabdomyosarcoma, a rare aggressive tissue cancer. This Tinker Bell -loving superhero endured 71 infusions, 58 chemotherapy treatments, 28 radiation treatments, 53 overnight stays in the hospital, and 14 cycles of treatment for 43 weeks during treatment.

We’re so thrilled to have Emily as one of Iolanthe’s Kids.

Special thanks to Scott Dobek for the gorgeous custom name keychain and to Jo Basford for the Enchanted Forest postcards. Emily’s hat was spun and knit by Alison out of Sunny’s fiber, with one of Marian’s gorgeous hand-felted flowers in Tinker Bell’s peridot.

Emily loved to paint, and made me this amazing gift of a portrait of Sunny several weeks before she died.

I will treasure it always.

Her parents set up this legacy project in Emily’s memory (at her behest) called #InHonorofEmily, where folks are encouraged to practice a random act of kindness in Emily’s honor every Wednesday.
